The KSD Group was retained by Viridis Fuels to manage the design and execution of their new Biodiesel production facility located on a 4-acre parcel in the Port of Oakland.
The site has CEQA approval to produce up to 20-million gallons per year of BQ-9000 quality biodiesel from various feedstocks and waste oils including animal fats and used cooking oil with extremely high FFA contents that are difficult for traditional biodiesel plants to process.
KSD has driven the entire site and process design along with the complex environmental permitting required for an industrial facility, which was made more complex because the site is a DTSC listed contaminated site with onerous restrictions on any soil disturbance.
The project will ultimately contain two rail spurs, a truck loading & unloading station, tank farm, utilities, and it’s own water treatment system in addition to the biodiesel production equipment.
